Butch Human, President of Star H Equine Insurance, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration and a Major in Insurance. He has over 35 years insurance experience and over 50 years involvement with horses, having ridden several World and National Champions and Reserve Champions in both western pleasure and cutting. He currently rides and shows reining horses with his wife, Lucinda.  In 2011, riding ‘Mr. Jerry Jac’ Butch earned his NRHA Green Reiner Buckle!

In addition to his extensive insurance career, Butch also retired from the United States Marine Corps with a rank of Colonel. He served in the Republic of Vietnam as an infantry platoon and company commander. For his service in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Purple Heart.

Butch and Dr J Ocala 11Butch was the founder and former owner of Horse Insurance Specialists, Inc. in Pilot Point, Texas, which he built into one of the largest equine insurance agencies in the United States before selling the business in 1997 with the intention of retiring. After five years Butch realized that he was bored with retired life and decided to re-enter the equine insurance business, starting Star H Equine Insurance.

In 2007, after completing the tough 3 year program, Butch was awarded the insurance designation “Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist.”
